The Dashboard is your home screen after logging in. It shows what is ready, what is still being set up, and where to go next.

What you'll see

Quick stats

Cards show your current numbers:

  • AI Writers: how many writers are ready to use
  • Sources: how many content sources are active
  • Stories: how many stories are available for newsletter generation
  • Newsletters: how many drafts you've saved

AI Writer availability

After you connect your newsletter, HeyNews builds your AI Writer in the background. Until it is ready, the dashboard shows a waiting message. Once a writer is ready, you can start drafting.

Recent newsletter issues

If you've connected beehiiv or Kit, the Dashboard shows your most recent sent issues with send date, recipient count, open rate, and click rate.

These metrics come from your connected newsletter platform. New sends may take about 48 hours to show performance data because HeyNews waits for readers to open and click before pulling the numbers.

Quick actions

Quick actions take you to:

  • Compose a newsletter: open Compose
  • Add sources: add feeds, sites, profiles, or stories
  • View newsletters: open History

Empty states

If you have not set anything up yet, the dashboard points you to the next steps:

  1. Connect a newsletter platform (beehiiv, Kit, or a newsletter archive)
  2. Add content sources
  3. Write your first draft once your AI writer is ready

Refreshing data

The dashboard refreshes when you visit it. If you want to see the latest numbers, refresh the page or click the refresh button.
