What is HeyNews? HeyNews helps you turn the stories you follow into newsletter drafts. It learns your writing voice, pulls from the sources you choose, and gives you a draft you can edit before sending.
Do I need an email platform to use HeyNews? No. You can use HeyNews to generate newsletter content without connecting any email platform. When your draft is ready, copy the content and paste it wherever you send emails. Connecting beehiiv or Kit adds performance tracking and helps HeyNews learn your voice from your broadcast history.
Which email platforms does HeyNews support? HeyNews connects directly with beehiiv and Kit (formerly ConvertKit). You can also connect any newsletter with a public archive, including Substack, Ghost, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, and Medium, so HeyNews can build an AI Writer from past issues without an API key. For sending, copy your finished draft into the email platform you already use. If you want us to add a direct connection for your platform, submit a request from the Analytics page.
How do I reset my password? Click "Forgot password?" on the login page. Enter your email, and you'll receive a reset code. Use the code to set a new password.
Can I sign in with Google if I signed up with email (or vice versa)? Yes. Every account supports all three sign-in methods: email and password, magic link, and Google. Use whichever is convenient regardless of how you originally signed up.
Can I change my email address? Not directly from the app. Contact support@heynews.co to update your email.
How do I delete my account? Go to Account settings > Security and click Delete Account if the option is available for your account. HeyNews shows the publications, connections, subscription, saved history, and in-progress work affected before anything starts. You need to confirm the consequences, enter the verification code sent to your email, and type the final confirmation word shown in the app before the request begins.
Account deletion removes your HeyNews account, cancels your active subscription, and removes the product data shown in the deletion flow. It also removes your profile from the marketing, analytics, and session-recording tools HeyNews uses, so none of them can still identify you. Payment and invoice records stay with our payment provider, because tax and accounting law requires us to keep them.
If you need a written record of what was deleted and what was kept, ask support for a deletion certificate. It lists each system, what happened there, and the reason and time limit for anything retained.
Account deletion is separate from a Privacy Erasure Request. A Privacy Erasure Request can cover records held outside the product, such as past support conversations, and is handled through support.
After deletion finishes, the old sign-in cannot be used again. You may sign up later with the same email as a new account, but your old newsletters, history, invoices, payment methods, and settings will not return.
How do I cancel my subscription? Go to Account settings > Subscription and click Cancel subscription. HeyNews asks for a short reason, checks whether a better plan or a one-month pause fits your account, then lets you confirm. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period, and HeyNews sends an email plus in-app confirmation with the date your access ends. You can keep your subscription again before that date from the same page.
What happens if my payment fails? Your account is paused until the invoice is paid. You'll see an Update Payment Method button in HeyNews, and Stripe may email you a secure payment link. Settings stays open so you can update your card. Your data stays in place, and access returns once payment succeeds.
What happens to my data if I cancel? Your drafts, sources, and settings stay in HeyNews until you delete your account. You lose access to generation features, but everything is still there if you resubscribe.
Story history works the same way on every plan: HeyNews keeps a full year of stories. Issues you already wrote keep their own copy of the stories they used, so past issues are not affected either way.
What happens when my free trial ends? If you don't subscribe before the 14-day trial is up, your account is paused. You'll see a Subscribe Now screen when you log in. HeyNews stops checking sources, newsletter generation is disabled, and Settings stays open so you can manage your account. Your drafts, sources, and settings stay exactly as you left them, and your story history is still there. Subscribe anytime and you can pick up where you left off.
Can I start my subscription before the trial ends? Yes. If you hit a trial limit, HeyNews offers to start your subscription right away, on the plan you picked at signup. You'll see the exact amount due before you decide. If you confirm, your trial ends that day, your saved card is charged for the amount shown, and your paid plan's limits apply. If you don't confirm, nothing changes and your trial keeps running.
Can I archive a publication I'm no longer using? Yes. Go to the Publications page, open the publication's actions, choose Archive, and confirm. Archiving stops new source checks, hides the publication from your sidebar, and clears the active setup tied to that publication, including its AI Writers, sources, automations, and connected source records. Existing saved issues stay available where expected during the restore window.
You have 30 days to restore the archived publication. After that, the publication and its data are permanently deleted. If you archive the publication you're using, HeyNews clears the selection and asks you to choose what to open next.
Why is my account suspended? If you see a lockout screen when you log in, your account has been suspended. This is separate from an expired trial. Reach out to support@heynews.co and we'll help sort it out.
How does HeyNews find content? HeyNews pulls content from the sources you add: RSS feeds, Reddit subreddits, blog URLs, and social profiles. It also imports broadcast history from connected email platforms. Your sources are checked automatically.
How long are my stories kept? A full year on every active plan and during the free trial. Issues you already wrote keep their own copy of the stories they used, so past issues open and read the same way.
How often are my sources checked? HeyNews handles source checks automatically. The timing can vary by source type, feed health, and recent failures.
Can I use HeyNews for topics it doesn't cover? Yes. Add RSS feeds, subreddits, or social profiles for any topic. HeyNews works with whatever content you point it at.
How long does setup take? Usually a few minutes. HeyNews keeps working in the background and lets you know when your AI Writer is ready.
Why don't I see an AI Writer yet? HeyNews may still be preparing it. AI Writers with a Ready status appear under Voice & past issues > AI Writers and in Compose.
Can I delete an AI Writer? Not directly from the app at the moment. Contact support if you need to remove a writer.
How many newsletters can I generate? Free trial: 5 drafts total for the full 14 days, no matter which plan you pick. Hobbyist: 5 per month. Starter: 15 per month. Pro: 45 per month. Team: 90 per month. Each generation attempt counts, whether you save the result or not. Issue-pack add-ons raise the cap on any paid plan.
Can I edit the generated content? Yes. Edit the draft directly in Visual or Markdown mode, or use Refine with AI to request changes in plain language.
Is there a limit on AI revisions? During the free trial, every account gets 5 AI revisions per draft. If you reach that limit during the trial, HeyNews offers to start your subscription early. The exact amount due is always shown before you confirm, and declining changes nothing. Starter, Pro, and Team give that draft more revision capacity as soon as the subscription starts. Hobbyist also has 5 revisions per draft, so a draft already at 5/5 stays at its limit. After the trial, the limit depends on your plan: Hobbyist 5, Starter 10, Pro 20, Team unlimited. If you're on Hobbyist, Starter, or Pro and need more, the Unlimited Revisions add-on ($50/month or $420/year) removes the cap across all your drafts. Add it from Account settings > Subscription > Add-ons.
If I navigate away while generating, do I lose the draft? No. Generation runs in the background and HeyNews auto-saves the finished draft to Issues. You'll see a message when it's done, and the draft gets a "New" badge so it's easy to find.
Does HeyNews send emails for me? No. HeyNews generates the content. You copy it to your email platform and send it yourself. Direct sending is planned for a future release.
Is my data safe? Yes. API keys and connection tokens are encrypted before storage and never shown back in the app. Kit lets you approve the connection without sharing your Kit password.
Does HeyNews modify my beehiiv or Kit account? No. HeyNews only reads data from your connected newsletter platforms. It will never send emails, change subscribers, or modify your content.
Can I revoke HeyNews's access to my newsletter platform? Yes. Disconnect from Connections & imports, or revoke access from your platform's app settings page.
How do I get help? Email support@heynews.co. We typically respond within 24 hours.
