Kit (ConvertKit) is here

You can now connect Kit as your newsletter platform, right alongside beehiiv.

Go to Settings > Connections, click Connect Kit, and authorize with one click. HeyNews pulls in your past broadcasts, trains your voice profile, and syncs performance data. Same flow as beehiiv, just for Kit users.

A few things to know:

  • You can connect multiple beehiiv and Kit publications. The number of connections depends on your subscription plan.
  • Broadcast sync runs every 4 hours. Performance stats sync every 6 hours.
  • The onboarding wizard now shows both options at step 2, so new users pick their platform right away.

You'll get emails now (the good kind)

We added lifecycle emails so you're not left guessing what to do next. When you sign up, connect a source, or finish training your AI writer, you'll get a short email with the next step.

Here's what's live:

  • Welcome sequence after signup (4 emails over your first week)
  • Trial reminders at day 1, day 11, and when it ends
  • "Your AI writer is ready" notification when your voice profile is approved
  • "Voice training complete" email when training finishes (this one was built months ago but never wired up. It works now.)
  • Milestone emails after your 1st and 5th newsletters
  • Win-back email 3 days after trial expiration, in case you're still deciding

Every email has an unsubscribe link. Reply goes to support@heynews.co.

Trials actually expire now

Previously, trial expiration was only checked when you used the app. Now a daily background job runs and formally ends trials after 14 days, whether you log in or not. Your voice profiles and sources stay saved. Nothing gets deleted. Subscribe to keep creating.

Onboarding cleanup

The beehiiv connection modal got simpler. We removed the fake progress bar and the hardcoded voice profile that showed up before training even ran. It's now a single clean step: paste your API key, pick your publication, connect.

"What's New" and "Submit Feedback" built in

You no longer have to leave the app to tell us what you think or see what we shipped.

Two new links in the sidebar footer and the profile menu:

  • What's New opens a changelog sidebar with recent updates (you're reading one right now)
  • Submit Feedback opens a quick form to suggest features or report problems

Both know who you are, so you won't need to sign in separately. Your name and email carry over automatically.

  • Rejected and draft AI writers no longer clutter the dashboard or AI Writers page
