Connections

Use Connections in the sidebar to connect the tools HeyNews can read from.

Overview

The page is split into three areas:

  • beehiiv: connect your beehiiv publication to bring in past issues and performance data
  • Kit: connect your Kit (formerly ConvertKit) account to bring in past broadcasts and performance data
  • Newsletter archives: connect Substack, Ghost, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Medium, and other public archives without an API key

Each area shows what is already connected and gives you a button to add another connection.

beehiiv and Kit connections are for active newsletters. Each one gets its own publication in HeyNews. Newsletter archives are different: they add past issues to the publication you're already working in, so they don't create a new publication or use another paid connection.

Connected accounts

For each connected platform, you'll see:

  • Account/publication name
  • Subscriber count
  • Connection status
  • Remove button

Adding connections

Click Connect in any section:

  • beehiiv: paste your API key, check it, and select a publication
  • Kit: click "Connect with Kit" and approve the connection on Kit
  • Newsletter archive: paste your public archive or RSS URL and HeyNews will find your past issues

Removing connections

Click Remove on a connected account and confirm. Stories that HeyNews already found stay in your account, but HeyNews stops checking that connection for new content.

If you want to retire an entire publication, go to Publications and archive it from there. Archived publications can be restored for 30 days. See Publication settings for details.

Returning from Kit

When you connect Kit, HeyNews sends you to Kit so you can approve access. After that, Kit brings you back to HeyNews. If it works, you'll see a success message. If not, HeyNews tells you what went wrong.
